Furillen, Gotland

Kalksten – Gotlands berggrund och själ, det grå som sätter tonen i hela landskapet och berättar om forna tider. Furillen på nordöstra ön var länge ett hem för ett stort kalkbrott, vilket numer är transformerat till ett vackert hotell och rekreationsplats. Konflikten mellan exploatering av en oersättlig naturresurs och en industri som försörjt så många är påtaglig. Bruksbyggnaderna och essensen av vad som har varit har lämnats kvar och det är svårt att inte blir inspirerad i en sådan speciell miljö.  I sommar återvänder jag för bröllopsfotograferingar här, det blir fantastiskt!

Limestone – the bedrock and soul of Gotland, the gray that sets the tone of the landscape and tell of past times. Furillen on the northeastern coast used to be the home of a large limestone quarry, which is now transformed into a beautiful hotel and recreational space. The conflict between exploitation of an irreplaceable natural resource and an industry that employed so many is palpable. The old buildings and the essence of what has been is left undisturbed and it’s hard not to feel inspired in such a special environment. This summer, I will return for wedding photo shoots here, it will be fantastic!
